She was born on 30 December 1825, Upper Canada, British North America.3,4 Alternatively, she may have been born circa 1828 at Upper Canada, British North America, according to the 1861 census.5 Rachel married John Renwick before 1852.6,5,4
Rachael Matthews died on 6 April 1922 at 268 Roncesvalles, Toronto, York County, Ontario, Canada according to Ontario Death Registration 002775.3 The informant on her death registration was her daughter, Mrs. J. Hunter.3 The cause of her death was given as heart failure and senility.7

John and Ratchel Renwick appeared on the 1861 United Province of Canada Census of Clarke Twp., Durham County, Canada West, enumerated 14 January 1861. John was described as a yoeman. Their children, Herbert, Elizabeth, Mary and Sarah, were listed as living with them. Based upon their close proximity in this census, I assume that John is the son of Herbert Renwick. Ages given were for their next birthday.5
Rachael appeared on the1901 Canadian Census of Newcastle, Clarke Twp., Durham County, Ontario, in the household ofMary Lockhart.4
     Research notes (March 2023):
I assume that her middle name was Steel based upon her son Herbert's marriage registration. Other sources give her surname as Matthews or Mathews.8
