     David Waddell died on 27 July 1875, drowning after accidentally falling from a boat while landing at Jackson's Point on Lake Simcoe, Ontario, Canada according to Ontario Death Registration 007778.1,2 He was buried at Lawrence / Waddell Cemetery, Clarke Twp., Durham County, Ontario, Canada.2
     The informant on his death registration was the coroner, Dr. George D. Morton on 7 August 1875.1
     The following article appeared in the Toronto, Ontario The Globe and Mail, 29 July 1875 :
Bank Clerk Drowned
     SUTTON, July 28. —A sad accident occurred at Jackson's Point, on Tuesday, by which David Waddell, a clerk in the Bank at Bradford, lost his life. A party of excursionists were coming from Bradford to Jackson's Point to spend the day, when the tug on which they were on turning into the wharf gave a sudden lurch, and the above named young man fell overboard, and before any one could reach him he sank. The body has not yet been recovered.3

     The following article appeared in the Toronto, Ontario The Globe and Mail, 30 July 1875 :
SUTTON.
     Body Recovered
     SUTTON, July 29. —The body of the young man David Waddell, who was drowned on Tuesday last off the tug Isabella at Jackson's Point, was found by Mr. Tinning, of Toronto, this evening. Much credit is due to the people of Bradford and Sutton for their untiring efforts to recover the body, having spent two whole days dragging the lake. The body was taken to Bradford this evening, and will leave by the first train in the morning to Orono, by way of Toronto. The funeral will be under the auspices of the Newmarket Lodge of Odd Fellows, of which he was a member.4

     The following article appeared in the Toronto, Ontario The Globe and Mail, 6 August 1875 :
THE FRIENDS OF THE LATE DAVID WADDELL, of the St. Lawrence Bank, who lost his life off Jackson's Point, Lake Simcoe, on the 27th inst. desire to return the'r (sic) sincere thanks to the inhabitants of Bradford and Sutton, for the unremitting exertions used by them for the recovery of the body under the able guidance of Capt. Brrke; also to Mr. Thomas Tinning of Toronto, whose thorough experience rendered him at once successful, desire to express their heartfelt thanks.5
