     Malcolm was born on 19 August 1846 in ScotlandG.3,4,2,5 Alternatively, he was born in August 1847 in ScotlandG according to the 1911 census6,7 or circa 1845 in ScotlandG age 36 in the 1881 census.8,9 Malcolm married Sarah Jane Maitland on 10 September 1868 in Colborne, Cramahe Twp., Northumberland County, Ontario, CanadaG.10,2,6,7,9,8 He died on 29 October 1930 in Kingston, Frontenac County, Ontario, CanadaG, at age 84.1 Malcolm McNeil Shaw was buried in Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston, Frontenac County, Ontario, CanadaG.1

     He immigrated in 1848 to CanadaG from Scotland.6 He of Brighton twp., was the informant on the birth registration of his wife's nephew, Henry Wallace Maitland.11
     In the obituary of William A Dewey who died 21 January 1921, Capt Malcolm Shaw was listed as his father-in-law.12
     The following newspaper article appeared in the Colborne, Ontario The Colborne Express 23 August 1928 :
60th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
On Friday. August 10th. 1928, Capt. and Mrs. Malcolm Shaw, 173 Stuart Street, Kingston, celebrated very quietly the sixtieth anniversary of their wedding. Capt. Shaw's brother. Mr. J. C. Shaw of Rochester. N.Y.. and Mrs. Shaw's sister. Mrs. Maitland of Trenton. were the only guests present. Telegrams, letters, cards, phone messages and gifts have been received. Capt. Note: It is not clear which sister is referenced above since her maiden name would have been Maitland. I am currently not aware of a sister whose married name was Maitland.5

Her declaration was supported by her Uncle Peter James Shaw, and by a family bible.1,4,2,5,6,7 Mary married William A Dewey on 28 February 1891 in Trenton, Trenton Twp., Hastings County, Ontario, CanadaG.8,6
     Mary Belle Shaw, his wife, a daughter of Capt. Malcolm Shaw, was referenced, but not by name, in the obituary of William A Dewey who died 21 January 1921.9 Mary Dewey of Brighton, ON was the informant on the death registration of her mother, Sarah Jean Shaw who died on 15 October 1943.10
     On Sept 29, 1944, Mary Belle filed a delayed registration of her birth.1

     Flora was born on 4 December 1872 in Ontario, CanadaG, according ot the 1901 census.4 Alternatively, she was born in 1871 or 1872 in Brighton, Northumberland County, Ontario, CanadaG, since she was age 9 in the 1881 census, and 20 in the 1891 census.

According to her sister Mary Belle's delayed birth registration, Mary was the only child born to her parents. Therefore, Flora Jane may have been an adopted daughter.1,2,3 Flora married Richard Arnold Beard on 13 April 1895 in Brighton, Northumberland County, Ontario, CanadaG.5,1,4 The informant on her death registration was W Campbell.6 She died on 6 February 1907 in Thorold, Welland County, Ontario, CanadaG, at age 34 according to Ontario Death Registration 0312105.6 The cause of her death was given as acute pneumonia after 9 days illness according to Ontario Death Registration 031215.6
