WOODLAND (sic) SCHOOL DISTRICT 35-10.
Wheat seeding is about done in this vicinity. Mr. Woods has sown lone hundred acres in wheat.
Quite a number have commenced breaking as the land is in fine shape. Mr. Johnston is operating a steam plow a few miles East of here.
Mr. H. Wells has erected a fine frame stable on his homestead.
Mr. N. Henderson intends having a herd this season again along Eagle Creek as it is a splestid (sic)run for cattle.
Mr. Win. Ross is moving out his family from Saskatoon to his homestead this week.
Mr. Ruttle of North Dakota. is visiting his brother, Joseph, of this district.
The grass is beginning to look green again and will soon he good for pasture.
Mr. B. Wilde is putting up a nice frame house on his homestead near the Creek, and expects to move in soon.
Mr. Sparrow, who recently came up from Manitoba, has erected a house and outbulidings and is now busy breaking up his land.
Two of our young men had a warm time one day last week. They were bringing out a load of lumber and some cattle from town. and at noon camped on the trail They lit a small fire to make tea but did, not count on the prairie burning so rapidly and the fire got away from them and under the load, amongst the cattle which were tied to the wagon, severely scorching some of them. One of the men took off his coat and started beating out the fire but he forgot that he had a box of cartridges in his pocket. The heat exploded a shell and the bullet struck him on the arm, making quite a mark on his flesh.
