     Lewis Fugate began military service on 23 September 1862 at the age of 25 at Breathitt County, Kentucky, USA, joining the 13th Kentucky Cavalry for a period of 3 years as a private.⁴

     Elizabeth Nappier was buried at Fugate Cemetery, Breathitt County, Kentucky, USA.¹ She was born in September 1841 at Harlan County, Kentucky, USA, according to the 1900 census.^3,4 Alternatively, she may have been born on 13 September 1840 at Harlan County, Kentucky, USA. Note that this Find A Grave memorial page gives her borthplace as Breathitt County, but sources are not given. I place more credibility on her birthplace as stated on her son's 1878 death registration/ This memorial page also gives her year of death as 1848, but the photo of her grave clearly shows 1840.¹ Elizabeth married Lewis Fugate.⁴
