S. R. Nowlin, his nephew, Louis L. Emery, Miss Jessie Heft and Mr. Emery's sister, all of Austin township, have returned from an overland trip in Mr. Nowlin's new Rambler auto. They went by way of Decatur to Farmer City, where they visited relatives of the Nowlin family. They covered about 120 miles in the auto and enjoyed a fine trip.22

Silas Nowlin, Auto Man, Dies
     Silas R. Nowlin, a farmer in Austin township and automobile dealer in Maroa for many years, died at 10:20 p.m. Sunday in St. Mary's hospital where he had been a patient four days.
     Mr. Nowlin, 71, of 335 West Main street, cam to Decatur in 1920.
     He was born April 8, 1875 in Austin township, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan B. Nowlin. He was married to Pearl Rau in Decatur in 1896 (sic).
     He leaves his wife, two daughters, Mrs. W. Harry O'Heren, Quincy and Mrs. William Renner, Pana; three sons, Carroll W. Nowlin of Decatur, Dr. I. J. Nowlin, Dallas, Texas and Dr. L. A. Nowlin, Davenport, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Applegate, Naponee, Neb. and Mrs. A. G. Curry, Holdredge, Neb., and nine grandchildren.
     The body is at the Brintlinger funeral home where friends may call after noon today. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with burial in Maroa cemetery.9,10

     The estate of the late Silas R. Nowlin, who died in Decatur June 16, is valued at $1,000, according to a petition for administration of his will filed in county court yesterday. Heirs named included Pearl A. Nowlin, Carroll Nowlin and Lucille Renner, all of Decatur, and Beulah O'Hiren (sic), Quincy, Irvin J. Nowlin, Dallas, Tex., and Lester A. Nowlin, of Davenport, Ia. Wayne E. Armstrong, of Decatur, was named administrator of the estate.28
