He was included in a list of the new board of directors of the Grain Growers. A Dec 1, 1916 article included him in the list of directors returned for another year in the newly formed United Grain Growers, an amalgamation of the Manitoba and Alberta Grain Growers companies.30,31

     The following biographical information is from my (Rick Moffat's) personal research , April 2017 :
Both of William's oldest sons, Douglas and Athol were casualties of WWI. Perhaps mercifully, he died before the death of the second, Athol.
; Note that both Douglas and Athol were casualties of World War 1. Perhaps mercifully, their father, William Moffat did not live to witness the passing of his second son.35

     William Moffat appeared on the 1881 Canadian Census of Clarke Twp., Durham County, Ontario in the household of his parents, Walter Moffat and Aggnes Moffat.9
     William Moffatt and Jennie Moffatt appeared on the 1891 Canadian Census of Winnipeg, Manitoba, enumerated 17 April 1891, enumerated as a Presbyterian and an accountant. Their son Henry was listed as living with them.14
     William Moffat and Allice M W appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Winnipeg, Manitoba, enumerated 31 March 1901. William was enumerated as a clerk and a Presbyterian. Their children Douglass (sic) W, Athol William and Harry G were listed as living with them.13
     William Moffat and Maud Moffat appeared on the 1906 Census of Canadian Prairie Provinces, Manitoba, at the Chater Post Office, Brandon district, enumerated 6 July 1906. Their children Athol, Harry, Jean and Ernest were listed as living with them.16
     William Moffatt and Alice M appeared on the 1911 Canadian Census of Manitoba, at the Brandon district, enumerated 5 June 1911. William was enumerated as a Presbyterian and a Farmer. Their children Douglas, Athol, Harry, Gean and Earnest were listed as living with them.12
     William Moffatt and Maud Moffatt appeared on the 1916 Census of Canadian Prairie Provinces, Winnipeg, Manitoba, at 221 Home Street, enumerated 5 June 1916, enumerated as Secretary Treasurer of a grain company. Their children Harry, Jean, Ernest, Lloyd and Wilfred were listed as living with them. His sons, Douglas Moffatt and Athol Moffatt were listed in the household and noted as being overseas in the military. The household also included a private servant, Minnie Schultz.15

     Hugh was born on 29 October 1892 in RM of Odanah, Manitoba, CanadaG, according to Manitoba Birth Registration 1892-22319898. Note that his obituary gives his birthplace as Brookdale which is in the municipality of North Cypress.3,4 Hugh married Rosanne Harriet Stinson in 1914.3 Hugh married Vera Helen Stinson between 1921 and 1923.5,3,6 Hugh married Mary Rosella Stinson in 1965.3,7
     The following information is extracted from his obituary. Survivor(s): Rosella McKee, Mona Rousell, Della Brooks, Verna Summach, Joyce McKee and Malcolm McKee. Predeceased: Vera Helen McKee.8 He died on 13 March 1973 in Sunnyside Nursing Home, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, CanadaG, at age 80.3,8 Hugh James McKee was buried on 16 March 1973 in Asquith Cemetery, Asquith, RM of Vanscoy No. 345, Saskatchewan, CanadaG.8

     He was a survivor of his wife Rosanne who died in 1920.3 He was a pallbearer at the burial ofSarah Brooks,the mother of Albert and Charlie Brooks, on 2 October 1949 in Asquith Cemetery, Asquith, RM of Vanscoy No. 345, Saskatchewan, CanadaG.9
     H J McKee was a pallbearer in the funeral ofAlfred Wheeler.10
     In the obituary of Vera Helen McKee who died 17 November 1963, Vera's husband, Hugh James McKee was listed as a survivor.6
     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Saskatoon StarPhoenix published in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan 15 March 1973 :
McKEE--THE DEATH OF Hugh James McKee, age 80 years, of Asquith. Sask., occurred in Sunnyside Nursing Home on March 13th, 1973. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 16th at 2 p.m. from Asquith Baptist Church conducted by Rev, S. H. Cassells. McKague's Funeral Home will be in charge. Surviving are: his loving wife Rosella; four daughters, Mrs. R. J. (Mona) Rousell, Mrs. A. (Delia) Brooks and Mrs. M. (Verna) Summach, all of Asquith and Miss Joyce McKee of Saskatoon; one son Malcolm McKee of Saskatoon; eighteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Webster of Rocanville, Sask., Mrs. Margaret Allan of Calgary and Mrs. Barbara Olson of Victoria, and one brother, William McKee of Brookdale, Man. Mr. McKee was pre. deceased by his wife Vera Helen on Nov. 17th, 1963. Mr. McKee was born in Brookdale, Manitoba and moved to Asquith in 1913 where he farmed from that time until retiring into the town of Asquith in 1944. Mr. McKee made his home in Asquith except for the past three years which have been spent in the Sunnyside Nursing Home in Saskatoon. He was an active member of the Asquith Baptist Church and had served as Superintendant of the Sunday School for 17 years. He was a director of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and the Dairy Pool and active curler and active in all community affairs. The family would appreciate donations to the memorial fund of your choice. Interment will be made in the Asquith Cemetery.

     Vera was born on 19 June 1896 in RM of Neepawa, Manitoba, CanadaG, Manitoba Birth Registration 1896-007209.6,3 Vera married Hugh James McKee between 1921 and 1923.7,2,5 She died on 17 November 1963 in Toronto, Ontario, CanadaG, at age 67.8,4,5 The cause of her death was from a heart attack.9
     The following information is extracted from her obituary. The death of Mrs. Vera Helen McKee, age 67 years, longtime resident of the Asquith district, occurred suddenly in Toronto on Nov. 17. The funeral service day and time is pending. McKague's Funeral Home will be in charge. Surviving are her husband, Hugh James McKee, four daughters, Mrs. R. J. (Mona) Rousell, Mrs. A. (Della) Brooks and Mrs. M. (Verna) Summach, all of Asquith and Miss Joyce McKee of Saskatoon; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. D. J. Bowen, in California; four brothers, Roy Stinson of Saskatoon, Malcolm and Edgar Stinson of Gary, Indiana and Walter Stinson in Regina. Born in Manitoba, Mrs. McKee came to Saskatchewan as a young woman and for a time, lived in the Colgate district. She moved to Asquith about 40 years ago and shortly after married Hugh James McKee, then made the home on the family farm until retiring to the town of Asquith about 1944. Mrs. McKee was a very active member o the Asquith Baptist Church and was a life member of the Women's Missionary Society and was active in all community affairs. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Asquith Baptist Church will be sincerely appreciated. Burial will be made in the Asquith Cemetery.

     Anna was born in June 1860 in Ontario, CanadaG, age is given as 50, the same as her husband. His year of birth was 1860. On her line, the year isheavily smudged and cannot be read.6 Anna was born circa 1862 in Québec, CanadaG.4 Anna was born on 21 June 1866 in Megantic County, Québec, CanadaG, in an email message of March 5, 2005, Alice Sparrow wrote: "My mother and my grandmother also kept their age a great secret. in the 1901 census ,she deducted 12 years off her age. She was born in 1866." The census year of birth is enumerated as 1878.

On her marriagee registration, she gave her age as 23, but she was about 27.7,8,5 Anna married John Graham Moffat on 23 November 1893 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, CanadaG, moved to Manitoba shortly after their marriage, settling at Carrol near Souris.9,8,7,6 She died on 28 March 1949 in Fonthill, Ontario, CanadaG, at age 82.10,11 Anna Jane Rainey was buried on 31 March 1949 in Souris, Manitoba, CanadaG.11,3

     Her name was also recorded as Ann Jane on her daughter Annie Isabel Moffat's 1904 birth registration.12 She of Estevan, Saskatchewan was listed as next-of-kin on her son Pte Walter Rainey Moffat's attestation (enlistment) papers.13
     In an email of Nov 9, 2005, Alice Sparrow wrote "August of 1947 Mom and " Granny " went to Welland ,Ont to visit Walter Rainey. She died in March of 1949 so I imagine that she was there permanently."14
     The following obituary appeared Souris Plaindealer published in Souris, Manitoba 30 March 1949:
The death of Mrs J G Moffat aged 82 years, former Carrol Resident occurred at Fonthill, Ontario on Monday, March 28th. She is survived by one son Walter of Fonthill and a daughter Mrs E Walter of Onanole, Man. The funeral will be held from Diehl's Funeral Home,Souris on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 pm. Rev J B Anderson of Carroll will officiate and burial will be made in Glenwood cemetery.11
